Stefan Mueller (Mavericks Fall 1989):
After graduating UT-Austin in 1992, Stefan embarked on an impressive 20-year career in the United States Marine Corps. After finishing flight school in 1993 and earning his Wings of Gold in 1996, Stefan was personally selected to serve as a Marine Corps instructor pilot and subsequently served several leadership roles in his squadron while deploying on missions all around the world. Starting in 2003 he spent three years as a member of the storied Blue Angels and performed over 150 air shows and presentations around the world. Following the Blue Angels, Stefan was assigned to lead the largest officer recruiting district, the 1st Marine Corps District, covering the entire northeast United States.
In 2009 Stefan joined the 8th Regimental Combat team as the Regimental Air Officer based in Al Asad, Iraq and oversaw all Regimental Air Assets and Forward Air Controllers. He was responsible for target authentication and allocation of air assets. Stefan’s final assignment was with the Commandants Flight Detachment in Washington D.C. where he was one of five Marine pilots selected to fly the Secretary of the Navy and top Marine Corps and Naval Flag Officers to destinations around the world.
Stefan is now retired and lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife of 20 years and his two sons ages 11 and 13.
