In 2018 we were honored to have over 70 Wrangler alumni and actives attend the annual reunion.  This year we moved the venue to the Iron Cactus downtown, right smack in the middle of a street festival on 6th street.

Here is the annual recap:

  • The board was proud the announce that as a result of the generosity of the attendees of the 2017 reunion and other notable alumni, the organization was able to close out the Capital Campaign for the Wrangler room on the UT Campus.

  • The marquee event was preceded by the Texas Wranglers 2nd Annual City Wide Golf Tournament on Saturday morning at Teravista Golf Club.

    • The tournament was organized by the actives and included over 60 players with $2,200 raised for Easter Seals of Central Texas.

  • The alumni database has grown to include over 450 Wrangler Alumni

  • To improve the alumni pipeline, the night included attendance of both active upperclassmen and recently graduated seniors with their ticket fees covered by the alumni organization.

  • With the 40th reunion next year, the board opted for no keynote presentation and brief remarks were provided by the Reunion Chair (James Richards), VP (David Mills), and President (Joel Gross).

    • The remarks included the announcement that the board will begin the transition of leadership throughout the next year.  Per the constitution, all board seats will be seeking new leaders and if you are interested in serving, please email txwranglers.alumni@gmail.com to learn more.

  • The Actives former president (Vinit Nagaich) also provided a recap of the year which included several noteworthy accomplishments:

    • Spring 2018 active body: 74 Wranglers; Spring 2018 Maverick Class: 12 Mavericks

    • Amendment passed insuring that the organization will have at least two actives serving as Not On My Campus liaisons

    • Continuation of Two Step Throwdown (what looks to be our Spring philanthropy moving forward) benefitting The Mona Foundation; over $12,000 raised this Spring (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsfo_YiIe-w)

    • Back-to-back Men's A League Football Champions

    • Into next semester: a push to find a way for Wranglers to get onto the court during basketball games

  • The 2019 reunion will mark the 40th anniversary of the organization’s founding.  The board will make a concerted push to drive attendance and is considering a panel keynote presentation with Wranglers from various classes over the years sharing their experiences.
